Human rights change starts with the facts. We have crisis investigators that turn up in war zones to dig up evidence on attacks on civilians. Our experts do accurate, cross-checked research into human rights violations by governments and others worldwide, and publish accurate and reliable reports that catalogue witness testimonies.

Amnesty International is a global movement of more than 10 million people who take injustice personally.
We accept zero dollars from governments for our campaigns and research. This year, devastating crises around the world including in Afghanistan have stretched our resources thin — and we need your help as we enter the new year.
We are campaigning for a world where human rights are enjoyed by all — by bringing torturers to justice, changing oppressive laws, and freeing people who are imprisoned for simply exercising their rights.
We use our analysis to influence and press governments, companies and decision-makers to do the right thing.
Through petitions, letters and protests, we press for action from the people, governments, and corporations in power.
Amnesty pressures governments to protect the rights of those seeking safety. We condemn any policies and practices that undermine the rights of asylum-seekers, and we campaign to free people from ICE detention in the U.S. We are currently engaged in a massive campaign to protect and support Afghan refugees who have been evacuated to the U.S., or who have fled for other countries – and are in grave danger of being returned back to a dangerous situation.
When Amnesty started its work, only 16 countries had totally abolished the death penalty. Today, that number has risen to 108 — more than half of the countries in the world. But we have more work to do.
All people have the right to survive an interaction with police. Amnesty researches and exposes violations at the hands of law enforcement, and mobilizes people to take action against police violence.
We Fight for Human Rights. Our uniquely effective method for protecting human rights uses a three-pronged approach:
Amnesty International relies on individual donors to support our work. Collectively, these donors make it possible for us to never take money from any government. That allows us to stay independent and campaign against ANY country that perpetrates human rights abuses. It also means our research and reports are taken seriously at all levels, from media outlets to global institutions like the United Nations.
Yes. Under the U.S. tax code, Amnesty International of the USA is a 501(c)(3) organization, meaning all gifts are tax deductible to the extent of the law. Once you donate, we will email you a receipt of your donation within 24 hours.
Every donation you make fuels our human rights work across the world - from deploying frontline researchers to crisis zones around the world, to broadcasting our findings far and wide in the media and online, to mobilizing vital activism and campaigns so that we can hold those in power accountable. It also helps fuel our Global Relief Fund, which provides financial assistance and legal aid to human rights defenders and individuals at-risk around the world.
We've helped free thousands of prisoners of conscience since our founding. We show them that they're not alone, that they're not forgotten. We document the conditions of their imprisonment, take their stories to millions of people, and apply pressure on global leaders and lawmakers. JOIN US!
